I always loved going to my Aunt Mildred's house because she always had such good things to eat! No matter what day, or what time of day, she was always prepared for visitors and would whip out a cake or plate of something or other as soon as someone walked in the door. Two things I specifically remember she always had on hand - Keebler butter crackers and Tang. I was mezmerized by her house, as small as it was there was always something new to look at. As a child I loved her pink frilly bathroom, and would crawl under the massive kitchen table to look at the ornately carved wooden table legs. Uncle Elmer would always be sitting by the heat stove on one end of the kitchen, and Aunt Mildred would always be puttering around the kitchen doing this and that. I remember that Aunt Mildred liked to draw, and would sometimes bring out her colored artist chalks for me to look at. She wouldn't let me use them, but I just liked to look at them. Going to Aunt Mildred's house was always a fun time, and I can still see almost every detail of her house in my head. Because the house was small, gatherings would pack it to the brim, but a fun time was still had by all. I'll cherish those memories always.
