The following memories are shared by Dora's niece, Ardith Davenport:
"Family members have told me all my life that I look like my Aunt Dora. She and Dan and their kids were a lot like Don and Marge's kids, but we got to see Linda, Phyllis, Gary, and John a lot more. We visited in their home often, and they always came to family gatherings at any of the homes or in the park. Since they lived in town, their life was pretty foreign to us. I've already mentioned the ice cream freezing that they seemed to organize at their house. We kids wanted to help turn the crank, but mostly we just wanted to see how much salty ice we could suck on before the ice cream was ready. Everyone brought along cakes to enjoy with the ice cream, too. Mom usually bowed to our request and made her famous chocolate cake, Aunt Mildred brought her banana cake, and each one seemed to have their specialty.
One other memory I have is nearly cutting off the end of my pinkie finger when I ran into the back bumper of a parked car - I recall trying to avoid someone else on a bike who was playing chicken with me, only I don't know they would have dodged out of the way at the last moment."
