The following memories of Preston are shared by his niece, Ardith Davenport:
"When Preston and Beulah came to visit, we kids were ready to discover the latest tricks Uncle Preston had up his sleeve or behind his ears. His years working in the lumber industry in Oregon kept us from seeing his family as much as the Nebraska cousins, but they always made an effort to get back to Nebraska fairly often. Their oldest son Jim is one cousin I only recall meeting once. Their daughters Maxine and Sheila came often to visit and I remember their children when they were at home. Ron is closer to my age. Dennis and I and the kids stopped in to visit my uncle and aunt in Salem in 1989."
