The following memories are shared by Clyde's niece, Ardith Davenport:
"Uncle Clyde was one of my dad's heroes. We stopped in at Bar-Schall Music Store whenever we were in Kearney. I continued that practice into my college years. Uncle Clyde, it seemed, could play any kind of musical instrument. His years with vaudeville provided exciting stories when you could get any of them out of him. I remember gathering at his home in Kearney for music, and how the musicians recorded a tape for a record there one night. We visited his home often, and an early memory is of his milk goats! I also remember eating garden lettuce that had been picked and was in large pails in water to crisp it up. His children, Diana and Marcus, were some of my playmates. And who can omit Aunt Freda's warm and loving laughter? In Clyde's last years, my parents traveled with Clyde and Ruth to his [cancer] treatments. Uncle Clyde's illness impacted my dad in a way I had never seen before."
