The following memories are shared by Mildred's grandaughter, Kim Scoville:
"First of all, she was a character - the perfect grandparent. I think of her almost every day. Many of the pleasures of living richly I attribute directly to her. When I watch birds at my bird feeder, listen to piano music, turn my calendar from February to March, make pie crust, concoct new recipes, cut materials for my bulletin boards, plant flowers, smell White Shoulders perfume or put on new jewelry, I think of her.
She told the best stories; Peter Rabbit, Briar Fox, Uncle Billy Possum. We took cushions from her sofa and made "forts" in the living room - what fun!! When we would stay at her house we always felt so special. At night when we were settling down to sleep she would tellus stories, open the windows, and we would listen to the owls and other noises from the Loup River.
We were so lucky to have her."
